Interview Experiences
Targeted selection questions, ie: 'What have you done to help someone? Name one disappointment in your life, etc.'
breakfast, 2 interviews with very open ended questions, Q&A with residents, bus trip to hospital uptown
somewhat weird
Introduction by PD followed by plenty of time to socialize with residents. Interviews are unique in that each interviewer has a predetermined list of questions to ask. Day ends after tour of both hospitals.
Program Advantages
Strong neuro IR. Affiliated w/ Columbia. Location. Subsidized housing (~$1K/studio). Diverse pathology.
location, sub'd housing, solid education, very happy residents
This is one of the best locations in NYC and housing is guaranteed. Columbia affiliation allows use of facilities and good research opportunities. Relationship with BI allows increased sites for minifellowship rotations.
Program Disadvantages
Cover 2 hospitals. Very busy.
If you don't like NY, it's not for you.
Cover two hospitals so it is more like 3 residents/year instead of 6. Community program overshadowed by the academic Manhattan programs and Monte.
