Interview Experiences
Dinner at Chairman's house on Fri. Interview on Sat. Difficult to gauge what regular work day is like. Interviews very conversational.
Nice hotel and preinterview dinner for North east region
OK

Interview day well planned
Interviewed on a Saturday
Interviewed by Chairman and a faculty member
Ample opportunities to ask current residents questions about the program
pre interview dinner the night before. free beer and food. interviewed on a saturday so not many other ppl around. 3-4 interviews. easy going.
ntroduction by PD followed by brief talk by chair. Interviews and tour end the day. Most residents/applicants went to a Happy Hour at a nearby bar.
Program Advantages
Good research opp's. Excellent facilities.
Quality attendings
location if you like Long Island, well run hospital, good technology, very relaxed atmosphere, book and presentation funding
University program
Nice surrounding neighborhood
academic. lots of research opportunities.
Good teaching and research opportunities. Nice facilities, awesome resident lounge, and amazing technology. Well-staffed sub-specialty departments.
- Friendly residents.
Program Disadvantages
>1 hr away from city.
unfriendly
change of leadership, oddly heard negative things from other locations when I said I was strongly considering this program.
Far from NYC
Location is weak. Two hours from the city and they really get hurt by that. Size is small for a university program. Makes you wonder about workload. Many residents are from Stony Brook.
